Taperlok (Taperlock) Plug GagesTaperlok plug gages feature a tapered locking mechanism where the gage member is pressed into the handle for a secure, friction-based fit. This design emphasizes quick and convenient replacement of the worn gage member without needing to discard the handle—simply remove the old member and insert a new one. They are not reversible but offer flexibility for maintenance. Available in similar tolerance classes (XX to ZZ) and materials as reversible types, they are commonly used for internal thread checking and Go/No-Go testing.

Handles are tapered to match the member's base, often in aluminum with custom markings, and sized from 1/2" to 1-1/4" depending on the gage. No bushings or screws are required for basic attachment, making swaps tool-free. Size ranges are typically medium, from 0.0590" to 1.5100" (1.50mm to 38.35mm), bridging smaller and larger applications.
