Just talking to people that I run into in the caryards, and they're pretty much pussies. One is an internet tough guy, one seems to be in the pocket of this "Drake" character, and another is afraid of some guy called The King.
Also, I'd like to say this lady looks familiar, but alas we are simply seeing the joys of art re-use. I can't fault the designers for that too much due to time and space constraints, but it does take away from the game a little bit.
This ponce says he used to charge 1000 nuyen per run. That's chump change, bub. I'm sorry, but I don't recall ever seeing your name come across Captain Chaos' Shadowland BBS.
Oh yeah, who, you? Well your mother hates you because you're ugly, so come at me bro!
This kid has a supplier for slap patches. Awesome! He is the most useful person in this entire junkyard, even though that isn't saying much.
Well, this guy thinks pretty highly of himself...
Suddenly, the context of how much nuyen it takes to get stuff done in the Sixth World becomes apparent. And furthermore -- Hell no I'm not paying you 4000 nuyen, you wrinkled asscheek faced ork!
But even if I wanted to, I don't have that kind of cash... How in the heck am I going to get out of here?
Okay, so I happened across this arena where a guy offers to let me fight for money. And I see a giant ring in the middle of the arena... How bad can it be?
Remember when that Robert Patrick looking guy gave us the Negotiation keyword earlier? Well, right here is the only place it is worth it's salt. So ask about it, and hope you have the 1000 nuyen to cough up, because it will pay off big time going forward.
There seems to be a fine line between "Negotation" and "Scam", because I'm pretty sure the latter is just what happened to me and my 1000 nuyen... Lesson one should have been "Never pay somebody 1000 nuyen to teach you how to negotiate!", but since Mr. Armitage's brain seems a bit burnt, we'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
Wow, that first guy I just fought was a complete chump. This is a cakewalk -- and I just scored 300 nuyen to boot!
In spite of the odd way in which you get this ability, this level 1 negotation skill can be increased by spending karma up to a maximum of 6. It is definitely worth it, as the hiring price of Shadowrunners will go down and save you precious nuyen. And you'll need them to conquer this beast of a game.
Another asswhooping delivered, and the payout was even better!
Hell yeah. Kickin' ass and takin' names.
Ah, I love the smack talk in the Arena. Though, on the off chance you bit off more than you can chew, you ought to rest and save after every match. Because your number will come up eventually -- trust me.
Also, what the hell is with all of these Mage folk who use guns? Too good to waste magic on me, eh?
Killing is my business, and business is good.
Okay, this guy wasn't joking. He just put me in a world of hurt and I lost to him big time... But maybe I can find somebody else to fight...
Fight with The King? Sure, why not. What can possibly go wrong?
Okay, so I am NOT ready to fight The King yet... But I want to keep my 4000 nuyen! So I guess I'll have to grind some more in The Caryards.
Okay, so this little place in the South of The Caryards lets me fight a few guys to build up more karma (and a bit of nuyen, but not much) to strengthen myself so I can go back to The Arena.
Suck on that, Samurai Warrior.
How do you like me now!? At least the guys in the Arena have to put their money where their mouth is when they trash talk, unlike 80% of the scumbags you run into on these streets who just talk shit.
Okay, this guy busted out what I can only assume to be an Uzi and blew my character away... So we'll have to revisit him later with better gear, as this Beretta / Leather Jacket combo is far too outclassed at this point.
This Body of 8 should be enough to carry me through the next chunk of the game fairly well. The 16,000 nuyen is a good nest egg that won't be too hard to spend on new gear and items in the very near future (or a few fellow shadowrunners).
Look at this smug bastard. Time to knock him down a peg, for real this time.
And Armitage manages to almost single handedly start a riot in The Caryards.
Interestingly enough, a few people are afraid of the lack of protection now that The King is gone, but hilariously enough several other people still talk smack to you. What a bunch of drekheads.
Boy, this game doesn't pull any punches when it describes people on the street. And... Hey, we're out of The Caryards! Alright.
I'm trying to figure out of our Mr. Armitage here is like a future version of Frank Castle or not. I guess his full motives here remain to be seen.
On the plus side, we now have another new area to explore.
