SYNOPSIS
Even the Nobel award-winning quantum physicists call quantum mechanics (which made its debut in the world of physics in 1926), wierd. The real reason for its wierdness, which is not known to the world is, it is like a dipole; its one end is mathematics (science) and the other, mysticisim; reflecting the mysticism of the Vedas, it looks wierd. By rejecting positivism and determinism of classical physics, on the one hand, and simultaneously, shedding favorable light on the concepts of the Vedanta, on the other, it has been nudging physics, and science in the general direction of Vedic mysticism.
Now, since the 1980s, we have two string theories of everything (T.O.E)--the five millenia old Vedic, based on the concept of strings of consciousness and the three decades old science's, based on the concept of strings of consciousness and the three decades old science's, based on the concept of strings of consciousness and the three decades old science's, based on what Noble laureate, Steven Weinberg calls "relativistic convergence of the views of science and the Vedas at the primordial level of strings--quantum mechanical or of consciousness--is a development of profound significance. This book makes a pioneer attempt to show that science and the Vedas are, in reality, long-separated brothers, now, discovering each other.
According to the Vedic string T.O.E., at the primordial level, from a void-like infinite ocean of consciousness (the Brahman, the Unborn, the Aja) emerges the generator of "strings" of consciousness--called the Hiranyagarbha ( Golden Egg, the First-born, the Prathamaja) which is the precursor of the universes. These universes would expand, then contract and, finally, dissolve in the void-like ocean of consciousness, in endless cycles. This is like the oscillatory scenario favored by many modern cosmologists. The theory also explains the origin of life by its concept of Five Fires (Panchagani), the evolution and Cosmos-man equation (Purusha Sukta) and stresses the unity of all life.
This book will make one ponder over the questions: Is quantum mechanics the missing link between rationalism and mysticsim? Was its arrival in 1926 an event whose time had come? As information is another word for knowledge (Veda's Prajnanam), are the strings of consciousness and the bits of information, one and the same or, are related? Then, is information the substrate of all existence? Are we witnessing the gradual emergence of Veda-science complementarity or synergy as envisioned by Swami Vivekananda 120 years ago?
