Really Getting Into It

With the background research making progress we can start to share with you precisely what we are planning on doing! We've set objectives to create a website for H3, plan decor and room setup, arrange documentation or general information for kitchen and building processes and needs, and develop a portfolio of event options, components, and materials. Our plans for all of these will be coming out of our research, but its what happens in Venice that is really interesting!

We won't be using the spaces of H3 for more than 7 weeks whereas our sponsor, SerenDPT will be using it for many years, so the final plan really depends on what they want for their workplace. Thus we will develop varieties of plans and in Venice we will present these plans to SerenDPT. Participants will give feedback on what plans they like the most and slowly we will develop an idea of what the final designs will look like. In parallel to this, we will be discussing event plans, building management and website designs with SerenDPT and companies currently in the Deposito, an office space/incubator attached to the H3 church. From these people we will find relevant information and feedback that can help us improve upon our design. We hope to even talk to college students in the area to learn what they think of our plans!

Now that we are a third of the way through the term, we have a firm understanding of the requirements necessary for completing our project. One of our kitchen objectives that we were previously tasked to create a running cafe space in the time we were there, has been minimized to gathering requirements that a culinary center will use to create the actual restaurant. In addition to this objective, we have learned that the website deliverable is also just a design template and not a fully functional website. With the load lifted off our shoulders, we can start to focus on the goal of designing the decor of the building and venue.

Our proposal is becoming clearer and clearer everyday we conduct more research and flush out the background and methodology. We know for certain that we will assist with the overal design proposal for H3 with furniture needs and use of rooms in the building. My portion of the writing includes the introduction to the background and brief economic history of Venice, followed by current job market trends.

We also were informed of our apartment location in Venice, which is near the Church of San Trovano. Of all the Venice groups, we are the closest one to H3, which might be due to our project and focus towards it. This will definitely create a short commute! For the next week we will be finalizing our background and begin drafting the Methodology. Research will continue towards kitchen design and venue planning.
