Unfortunately due to unforeseen issues with posting to Venice's Open Data Website (dati.venezia.it) we are unable to complete as much work on the website as we would have liked to. Instead, we have learned of a new site called the Venice Internet Reporting Information System (IRIS) (iris.comune.venezia.it). IRIS allows residents of Venice to quickly report issues they have with the city in various fields. These fields range from animal waste to poor lighting. Residents can also check the status of filed complaints to ensure that their complaints are being noted. IRIS has been widely used since its creation in 2008 and has over 21,000 complaints logged with 78% of them having been resolved!
We intend to create a widget for the Venice Dashboard which will allow users to view the number of complaints received, pending, and resolved. This will display as a total number, yearly number, and weekly number. The widget will also show a heat map of Venice (including Lido and mainland Venice) where users can actively view where complaints are most frequently submitted across all fields.
