About me

Virginia Bowen, a mixed media painter and art educator, has exhibited nationally and locally for thirty years. Born in 1965 in upstate, New York, she received her BFA from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn and her MFA from San Jose State University. She has received notable awards and honors and has had solo exhibitions at San Mateo City Arts Gallery and ATA Gallery in San Francisco.  She has been included in numerous juried exhibitions, including: San Diego Art Institute/Museum of the Living Artist, and the Red River Valley Museum, Vernon, TX.

She is an art and design instructor at City College of San Francisco, and at Evergreen Valley Community College. She has also worked in museums and galleries (Asian Art Museum, Oakland Museum, The New Museum of Contemporary Art, The Jewish Museum, NY) as an exhibition coordinator, preparator, and lighting designer, and has coordinated, curated, and served as a juror and judge for numerous local exhibitions and arts events.
