Having a water fountain in the compound is very good. The fountain not only make the ambiance cool and landscaping upliftment, it also circulate positive energy. Keeping a fountain in front of the house is thus very positive addition to attract positive energy in the home. The fountain, being combination of both the elements; feng (water)and shui (wind), it is considered very significant in Feng Shui for its property of attracting positive energy and creating prosperity.
Since the fountain has a pond like base where water accumulates, it is not advisable to be kept in the Southwest portion of the compound. This base normally go some what deeper than the ground level and as such, this should be avoided in Northeast, as well. The same guidelines will apply to koi pond. Unlike water falls and fountains, the water in the koi pond remains comparatively stagnant and has to be handled carefully.
Now, we get miniature in-house fountains and falls and the vastu principles for this in-house objects are different than the outside compound water falls and fountains. Though, small in size and lesser volume of water, if the flow of water fall is in the direction of the house, it creates altogether a different effect on the prosperity of the house. The direction of the water fall flowing towards door symbolizes more expenses.
The wise option is to have a fountain that sprinkles water all around in a balance manner.
At times, we buy fancy shaped indoor waterfalls like the one we have shown in the header picture besides the fountain. Now, look at the symbolic meaning of this fall: The pot is considered accumulation of wealth and the water falling out from one pot to another pot without making any reservoir on the ground, is indicative of wrong shuffling of funds and wasteful expenses.
