Welcome to my webpage!
I am an Associate Professor in Economics and Data Analytics (Senior Lecturer in the UK system) specialising in Machine Learning, Applied Econometrics, and Predictive Analytics. My research blends economic theory, economic history, and AI-driven methods to address high-impact questions in international migration, education, labour markets, health, corporate finance, and sports analytics. I have also worked extensively on software design, medical applications of AI, number theory, and optimization. My work is characterised by its breadth, methodological rigor, and policy relevance — with outputs that bridge academia, industry, and government.
I am Ethics Chair of Bangor Business School, a Research Associate at the Institute of Economic and Social Research (IRES), Université Catholique de Louvain, and the Management and Decision Laboratory (MDE-LAB), University of the Aegean, as well as a Research Affiliate at the Institute of Labor Economics (IZA). I am an Associate Editor for Forecasting and have previously served as Director of ForLAB. My research has been funded by the British Academy, Welsh Development Bank, and Royal Economic Society, and recognised with the European Operational Research Society Award. I contribute to the Globalization, Inequality and Populism Across Europe project, and my policy work includes evidence submitted to the Welsh Parliament. I regularly referee for top-tier journals across Economics, Mathematics, AI, and Medicine, uniting diverse fields under a single mission: to harness data science and economic insight for solving real-world challenges.
