Mr Marco Baiguera won the Best Steel Structures paper award during the ICSAS Conference in Hong Kong.

Mr Marco Baiguera won the QUEST Travel Award by the Institution of Civil Engineers, giving him the opportunity to attend and present his work at the 8th International Conference on Steel and Aluminium Structures (ICSAS 2016). The 8th International Conference will take place in Hong Kong, from Wednesday, December 7 to Friday, December 9, 2016.
06/04/2016:
Mr Marco Baiguera won first prize for his poster at the Young Researchers’ Conference 2016. The 18th Young Researchers’ Conference (YRC) took place at the Institution of Structural Engineers HQ in London. Mr Baiguera won the prestigious award for his poster presentation entitled: ‘Experimental validation of a novel seismic-resistant steel frame for damage minimisation’.

Mr Marco Baiguera won the best paper/presentation award at the Infrastructure and Environment Scotland (IES) 3rd Postgraduate Conference. His paper and presentation title was ‘Dual seismic-resistant steel frame with high post-yield braces for residual drift reduction: a numerical evaluation’.

Dr Vasdravellis gave two presentations during the '8th Greek Conference on Steel Structures', held in Tripoli, Greece. The presentations had the titles: "Cyclic tests and fracture behaviour of seismic dampers made of high-performance steel" and "Behaviour and design of composite beams under generalised loading".

Dr Vasdravellis gave a presentation during the 'EUROSTEEL 2014 - The 7th European Conference on Steel and Composite Structures', held in Naples, Italy. Topic of the presentation: "Experimental evaluation of energy dissipation and fracture capacities of high-performance steel seismic dampers".
10/01/2014:
Dr Vasdravellis will participate to the Heriot-Watt Crucible VI, a program for academic staff at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh University and partner organisations. The aim of Heriot-Watt Crucible is to bring together researchers from diverse fields to encourage interdisciplinary and collaborative networks and thereby expand the participants' research and impact. Participation is by invitation only.

Topic of the presentation: "Minimal-damage steel frames using post-tensioned connections with web hourglass pins: design and assessment".
