1999 - A NEW BEGINNING

In September 1999 due to strong reinterest in the Crazy Today single from record collectors (the single was spotted for £60 at a record fair locally, and is commonly seen wanted for up to £85 in Record Collector magazine) and due to increased interest in Japan, the band met together for the first time in 18 years to discuss options on the re-release of Crazy Today and Over The Wall on a compilation CD, and the re-issue of Crazy Today on vinyl for the Japanese market.

The compilation CD, 'Bored Teenager Volume 2', was released on Detour Records on the 26th March 2001 and UXB feature on the front cover.

In 1999, UXB members Col Bennett and Mark Read also formed a new band called Atom Tan. Click here for more details.

In early 2001 Col Bennett "found" 3 old UXB songs (with Dom on vocals) on a rough rehearsal demo. The band never gigged or recorded them properly. They are:

A Shot In the Dark - a rocker similar to Waiting For The Weekend,

Nice Day - this swings between full rock and soft reggae style, and

Phone Call - which is dub reggae style, slightly upbeat.

2001 - THE REFORMATION

Due to increased interest and the release of singles in Japan, the 4 ORIGINAL members (Dom, Mick, Col, Mark) have REFORMED.

The band rehearsed together for the first time in 20 years on the 22nd May 2001 and they now practise together on a regular basis in preparation for gigs in 2002.

A gig with 3 other reformed bands that feature on 'Bored Teenagers Volume 2' (Knife Edge, The Negatives and The Zips), took place at The Garage in North London on Saturday 2nd March 2002. Read more about the gig.

THE SINGLES

October 2001: The two singles are now out in Japan on 7" vinyl; Crazy Today b/w Mr Fixit (a clone of the original 1980 single - NOW SOLD OUT), and a single of unreleased material comprising of three tracks: 48 Hours/2 Steps/In The Q. This was originally intended to be the band's second UK release in 1980 but due to falling out with their management this never materialised. The full Crazy Today MP3 and many others are now available on the audio page.

Crazy Today/Mr Fixit is released in the same artwork as was used when it was released in the UK and 48 Hours has a sleeve designed in the same style. Both singles come with a badge featuring sleeve artwork.

Orders can be taken on the website 1977 Records or by e-mailing Nobu. The singles cost 1200 Yen (approx £6) each.
