TIM ARMSTRONG-TAYLOR
Tim became conductor of Uxbridge Choral Society in September 2017. The choir has been delighted with his appointment, enjoying a varied and ambitious programme Click Here , plus we have the added bonus of a professional singing coach every week!
Tim says: I love directing Uxbridge Choral Society. Over the years that I’ve been in charge we have been faced with a number of challenges (especially numbers dropping after COVID) but the choir has continually strived to improve. I’ve been delighted by the recent growth of the choir and its commitment to its development, both in terms of numbers and quality.
It’s been such a privilege to guide the choir’s journey of improvement. Though lower in numbers, the sound the choir now makes and their attention to achieving their very best is wonderful to see. I’m grateful to them all (and the magnificent accompanist Mariela) for what they have achieved.
I direct four other choirs now; a church choir, a thriving community choir, a ladies choir and I’ve just set up a men’s daytime choir. My focus is on wellbeing, over the years I’ve seen what a difference singing, especially in a group can make to a person’s physical and mental health. So I’ve just set up singwithtim.com with a mission to spread joy through singing.
During my 30 year professional career I’ve been very lucky, seeing the world touring with choirs (The Monteverdi and Schutz Choir), singing on film soundtracks, making recordings (solo and choral) and writing and touring operatic concept shows and a classical music show. I’ve sung at events and parties from the Cayman Islands to St Petersburg.
Most recently I’ve had the absolute joy of working with my identical twin brother Roly, in our musical comedy act ‘Victor and Albert’, we have performed in over 50 village halls in the last 18 months, supported by arts funding and National Rural Touring Schemes. This summer I am so excited that we will be performing to around 300 people at the outdoor Roman Theatre run by OVO in St Albans in Verulamium Park. We are still touring now - come and see us - all tour dates can be found at www.victorandalbert.com
Oh. I’ve also written a book - ‘An Urn for the Worse’, available on Amazon.
