I am a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong. Previously, I earned my Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, advised by Prof. Chin-Hui Lee and Prof. Xiaoli Ma for Speech, Language, and Signal Processing research. Before academia, he was a Research Software Development Engineer in the Deep Learning Technology Center at Microsoft Research, following a Master's in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington.
My current research concentrates on two key areas: (1) Quantum Machine Learning, where I apply machine learning theories and algorithms to enhance the trainability, expressive power, and generalization capabilities of quantum machine learning models while also exploring noise-robust quantum circuit architectures with quantum error correction techniques; (2) Tensor Network Optimization for Machine Learning Systems, which aims to provide new insights into parameter-efficient fine-tuning and model compression techniques for state-of-the-art large language models, thereby enabling the deployment of compact deep learning models on local devices without relying on advanced pre-trained models hosted on centralized cloud infrastructures.
