"The seven young men who founded Sigma Chi were not ordinary men. They were men of vision, men of courage, men of action. They envisioned something new in fraternities, and sought to transform that vision into reality."
Sigma Chi Fraternity
The same can be said of the Founding Class of the Sigma Chi Pi colony at The University of West Georgia. The Founding Class had 12 members, all of whom are of different temperaments, talents, and convictions. The Founding class learned that those attributes made them a good fit for the upcoming challenges. There were times of adversity, but they learned that friendship among themselves would help them to one day achieve their goal.
In their first year the members of Sigma Chi Pi Colony performed a blue jeans drive for children in need. They also placed in the top three in the Greek Week events, which helped them gain recognition around campus. The Colony earned one of the highest GPA's on campus among Fraternities, and still currently holds one of the top GPA's. These were the effects of hard work, and foreshadowing of years to come.
