Ya-Lun Ho / 何 亜倫 

Ya-Lun Ho received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from National Taiwan University in 2009 and 2010, respectively. He also received his Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Tokyo in 2015. He worked as JSPS Research Fellow from 2014 to 2017 and Assistant Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, School of Engineering, The University of Tokyo from 2017 to 2022. After that, he joined the Institute for Photon Science and Technology, School of Science, The University of Tokyo as a Project Assistant Professor, and at the same time, he was also a Chief Scientist at JSR-UTokyo Collaboration Hub, CURIE until June 2023. 

Currently, He is working as a Senior Researcher at the Research Center for Electronic and Optical Materials, National Institute for Materials Science, NIMS.


Research Interests

- Nanotechnology, optics/photonics/plasmonics, electronics/optoelectronics, materials, sensing, energy, MEMS, and bioengineering

- New functional/optical/energy materials (including quantum-dot materials, low-dimensional materials, and nanocrystals) with New device design, new fabrication method, and optimization for different application environments

Integrated Nanolaser, Optoelectronics, Nanophotonics, Plasmonics, and Beyond

- through New Functional/Optical/Energy Materials 

Research focuses on nanolasers, optoelectronics, nanophotonics, and plasmonics, including investigation of physics/behaviors in new nanostructures and nanomaterials, development of new fabrication methodology, and applications including photonic integrated circuits (PICs), photodetectors, biosensors, and spectroscopic devices.
