Born and raised in Taiwan, Ya-Lun Ho completed his foundational academic training at National Taiwan University, where he received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in 2009 and 2010, respectively. Following his graduate studies, he served as an Ensign in the Taiwan Navy, a period of service that preceded his advanced research in Japan.
He later received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Tokyo in 2015. He worked as a JSPS Research Fellow from 2014 to 2017 and as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, School of Engineering, The University of Tokyo from 2017 to 2022. He then joined the Institute for Photon Science and Technology, School of Science, The University of Tokyo, as a Project Assistant Professor, while concurrently serving as a Chief Scientist at the JSR-UTokyo Collaboration Hub, CURIE, until June 2023.
Building upon more than ten years of extensive research experience at The University of Tokyo, he transitioned to National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS) in 2023 to establish his work as an independent Principal Investigator. Currently, he is a Senior Researcher at the Research Center for Electronic and Optical Materials within the institute.
