Our Director

Mr. Brett Bays has been the Instrumental Music Director at Utica High School since 2017 and has been teaching in Utica Community Schools since 1999. Mr. Bays is a Utica High School graduate having been a member of the Chieftain Marching Band, Jazz Band, and Concert Band!  Mr. Bays holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Central Michigan University.  He has taught all levels of music in Utica Community Schools from elementary through high school including having served as the Director of Bands at Eisenhower High School and also worked for several years with Stevenson's Titan Marching Band. Under Mr. Bays' direction, all of the Chieftain ensembles have consistently received high marks at their district and state level festivals.
