About WW1USNAiI

The focus and reason for this website, the creation and refinement of the 5 US Naval Air Stations in Ireland Wikipedia sites started with Naval Air Station Wexford, Ferrybank, County Wexford, Ireland. County Wexford always had a very strong alliance to the United States and the U.S. Navy.

It is home of Commodore John Barry, father of the American Navy, whom was the very first appointed Navy Officer of the U.S. Navy by none other than President George Washington (on President Washington's birthday).

It is also the ancestral home of the 35th President of the United States, President John F. Kennedy, whom was in the U.S. Navy as well.

But most of all, it is home to my own father, who loved (and missed it) everyday of his life. If you didn't know about County Wexford before you met him, you certainly were going to know and likely visit it after meeting him. My father immigrated to the USA as a young man (2nd Oldest of 6) after the loss of both of his parents. He was once a mariner who came from a long line of Wexford Mariners. His own father was a Schooner owner & Captain, Captain George Murphy (1856-1940) and grandfather Bartholomew Carty (1859-1931). G-Grandfather Carty was part of a heroic Wexford Tug Crew rescue, 20 Feb 1914 of the Norwegian schooner, "The Mexico".

My background includes US Naval Aviation, Human & Unmanned Spaceflight, with great interests in History and Natural Conservation.
