The historic Landon House is one of the top wedding and event sites in the Frederick area. It is also the Gateway into the Villages of Urbana. It is most famous for being the host site of dashing Confederate General J.E.B. Stuart's Sabers and Roses Ball held on September 8, 1862, immediately before the Battle of Antietam. Urbana was considered heavily Confederate in its leanings while just a few miles up the road in Frederick it was decidedly more Union-oriented.
