This not only helps with proper decomposition but also creates a wonderful fertiliser for your flowering and fruiting plants.
How can I begin?
You can get started with the following items, which you probably have around the kitchen or in the garden:
-fruit peelings
-coffee grounds
-dried and crushed egg shells
-vegetable skins
-tea leaves/bags
-grass/weeds/hay
-shredded cardboard
-pet bedding
-torn up newspapers
-toilet rolls
-tissue paper
If you're planning to add worms to help with composting, add all of the above into a large container plus bits of bread, rice and pasta.
Wait a couple of months for the magic to happen---during which time you should ensure good air circulation, a steady temperature and check that the mixture doesn't get too moist (drain it off or add more cardboard).
