For the last five years Ryan “King Ry” Garcia has reigned as the most captivating prize fighter in the world despite not having a world title.
That problem can end in the casino capital of the world.
Garcia (24-2, 20 Kos) whose incredible reflexes and snapping power along with his model looks attract millions of followers, will challenge WBC welterweight titlist Mario “El Azteca” Barrios (29-2-2, 18 Kos) on Saturday Feb. 21, at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
DAZN pay-per-view will stream the TGB, Golden Boy Promotions fight card.
Now 27, Garcia is entering his 10th year as a professional fighter. When he arrived he told the world that he would disrupt and invigorate the boxing world with his talent. The Southern Californian can finally fulfill predictions of a world championship.
But Barrios is no snowflake. The fighter from San Antonio, Texas has faced many top fighters in the world like Keith Thurman, Gervonta “Tank” Davis, Manny Pacquiao and Yordenis Ugas whom he defeated for the title. The tall Tex-Mex has proven to be very durable, mentally strong and capable of facing the best of the best.
Garcia has also faced many top players in the sport like Tank Davis, Rolly Romero, Oscar Duarte and Devin Haney. Many fans, critics and people involved in the sport recognize Garcia’s incredible fighting tools such as his lightning jabs and left hooks. His offensive weapons are so ridiculously potent that he has gotten away with defensive flaws.
Barrios is the reverse. He never had the athleticism or physical power and speed of Garcia. But he has acquired enough skills and technical prowess in offense and defense that allowed him to survive confrontations with numerous champions.
Garcia and Barrios will meet to decide who proceeds to even great heights.
