Learn to Sail & Lesson Registration
The UISC holds free lessons for current members. The lessons are usually held throughout the year on either Saturday or Sunday and last a few hours.
Join the email list-serv (See Contact Us for how to join) to receive announcements for current lesson times or contact the Vice Commodore (see Officers, left sidebar) for more information.
Anyone wishing to attend a lesson MUST register in advance.
You MUST be a club member to participate. You can join the day-of; contact the Vice Commodore and Membership officers BEFORE you arrive and have your membership forms, waiver and dues ready. If you join on a lesson day, you MUST come early to take care of registration so that the lessons can begin on time.
We primarily use FJs as our teaching boat. At the boathouse, you will be matched with an instructor, who will teach you basic sailing skills and will supervise your practice.
We recommend that you:
bring a change of clothes - you'll get wet at the lake, and it's nice to drive home dry!
dress in layers - it's slightly colder on the water than on land.
bring a snack - we have a refrigerator and pop for $0.50.
bring a water bottle and sunblock - we have bottles of water (50¢) and sunblock in the First Aid cabinet.
