BARCLAY JAMES HARVEST

Barclay James Harvest - Glasnost

A stunning live album from BJH is "Glasnost", packed with some of their best performance agumated by a wonderful sense of atmosphere. This is how a live show should sound. I can find no issues to critcise sound-wise, even the mix is almost perfect. It has a powerful 80s AOR feel, with a gutsy production that successfully draws in the listerner and strikes a balance between the band's rockier numbers and their more melodic side. The band sound like they are really hot and cooking! All songs are performed with gusto, often spiritedly, sometimes faster, with more energy and bite then their studio origins.

Les Holroyd Bass Guitar really get you rockin'. Arrangements, too, are re-worked with longer instrument sections, sometimes moving into quite different territory, and solos are generally much longer and more develophed. Reissued in 2013 on Esoteric Recordings on two CD which has been expanded to include the previously unreleased tracks due to vinyl limeted time to make full concert in the original set running order and has been newly remastered from the original master tapes. Presented in a Gatefold Digipack with new liner notes. Can be obtain from safe website www.bjharvest.co.uk

BARCLAY JAMES HARVEST - CAUGHT IN THE LIGHT

ONLY BARCLAY JAMES HARVEST CAN PULL OFF A GREAT ALBUM WITH ELECTRONIC DRUMS AS IN SUPERIOR INSTRUMENTAL SYNTHESIS MUSIC, THIS ALBUM ("CAUGHT IN THE LIGHT") WAS BEST ALBUM SINCE WOOLY WOLSTENHOLME PARTING FROM BARCLAY JAMES HARVEST IN IN 1979. "WHO DO WE THINK WE ARE", "COPI ROMANIA", "COLD WAR", "BALLARD OF DENSHALL MILL" AND SOME OTHER SONGS, HEARTFELT EFFORTS, FRAUGHT WITH MEANING AND FILLED UP WITH SADNESS. UNFORUNATELY, IN 1993 NOBODY WAS INTREASTED IN BARCLAY JAMES HARVEST ANYMORE, BECAUSE AMONGST - OTHER THINGS - THAT WAS THE TIME OF GRUNGE. DON'T EXACTLY REMEMBER GRUNGE ROCK?
