Q: Where will my audition be held?
A: In person auditions are held in the basement of the Cesar Chavez building. Please go to room 43.
Directions: From the Southside entrance to campus at Bancroft and Telegraph, turn left just before Sather Gate, then walk a bit down Strawberry Creek until you see a set of stairs going down to your left. (see this map) Enter the building, turn left, and room 43 will be on your left.
Q: What does the audition consist of?
A: You will be auditioning with Mark or Bill, the UCWC and UCMC directors, respectively. (They are super nice, so don't stress about your audition.) Mark or Bill will test your vocal range and musical ear with some singing exercises. You may be asked to do a little sight singing. Finally, please prepare an excerpt from a solo song or ensemble piece to sing for your audition.
Q: What kind of song should I sing for my audition?
A: Sing a song you are comfortable with and know well; it can be in English or another language and from any genre.
Q: When are rehearsal times?
A: Our rehearsals run from 4:10 to 6:00 PM every Wednesday and Friday, as well as occasional sectionals on Mondays from 4:15 to 5:30 PM. If you become a member of UC Women’s Chorale or UC Men's Chorale, we will expect good attendance though exceptions can be made for recurring class conflicts.
