2016-17 Team Members

Jerry Perez (President)

Gerardo Yasser Perez is a mechanical engineering junior. He has been a member of the UA Rube Goldberg club for three years, as Vice-President last year and President this year. He also volunteers at the Microelectromechanical Systems Lab doing research.

Lillie Hammer (Vice President)

Lillie Hammer is, besides being a town in Norway, a freshman majoring in Computer Science. She recently moved to Scottsdale from Austin, TX and has lived in five different states, ranging from all the way up north in Minnesota (dontcha know) to Texas (y'all). She's adopted from South Korea and has an older brother who was also adopted from South Korea, from different birth parents, who is exactly two years older than she is- that's right, she shares a birthday with him, a 1/365 chance! She's almost always up for trying new things and is super excited for Rube!

Bryce Royball (Presidential Advisor)

Bryce Royball is a Junior studying Chemical Engineering at the University of Arizona. Bryce has been a member of the Rube Goldberg Club since 2014 and served as the club president last year (and did a fantastic job of it of course!) His favorite thing about Rube is that it is a great chance to collaborate with others on a creative and atypical project. Also, it is a chance to hang out with some of the most SWAG people on campus! In the rare instances that Bryce is not in class or working in the Science and Engineering Library, he enjoys playing board games, playing video games, reading books and just generally being a nerd.

Dane Zambrano (Treasurer)

Dane was born from a princess and a knight, along with her twin brother, Zane. However, their parents’ love was forbidden, and so they were raised away from the kingdom by a kind dragon. When the dragon was tragically slain by the very same kingdom that they had been born into, Zane became consumed with hatred. In an epic battle, Dane was forced to defeat him with the power of science. She is a junior in microbiology.

Kristin Wolek (Webmaster/Public Relations)

Kristin Wolek is a freshman in information sciences. She not at all ashamed that she enjoys writing, roleplaying, entomology, video games, and her tiny dog. His name is Rumba and he’s just the best. She is a tutor and an aspiring law librarian. She spends her free time writing terrible stories and blogging about ants. Some of her fellow members failed to hand in their bio on time, but she very graciously filled in the blanks with 100% correct facts.

Rory Scobie (Historian)

Rory is usually occupied by archery, fencing, long distance running, and trying to get a degree in ECE. He is also constantly on the run from his evil twin, Brendan.

Annie Brunton (Secretary)

Annie Brunton likes Rube Goldberg machines well enough. But her true ambition and secret motivation behind joining is acquiring the scrap parts and technical know-how required to build an elite force of robot superheroes. Together, these robots will fight crime, save the world, and learn a lesson or two about friendship along the way.

Logan Becenti

Logan Becenti once waged war with the gods, fighting with all of his strength and valor. However, the gods almost immediately put a stop to that and cursed him for all eternity to live as a college student. For some incomprehensible reason, he believes that the curse will be lifted if he can build a good enough Rube Goldberg machine. Time will tell, I guess.

Alexandra Starrett

Alexandra Starrett is a Super Senior in Electrical and Computer Engineering. She loves Rube because of the engineering challenges and the people involved. In her free time, she competes in national synchronized swimming competitions, practices French, and designs tiny houses. After graduation, she plans to work for an awesome company.

Fabian Medina

Fabian Medina is a senior at the University of Arizona trying really really (really times infinity) hard to major in Mechanical Engineering and minor in Mathematics. Fabian is involved in many other extracurricular activities like SASE, SHPE, Think Tank Tutor, etc. Fun Fact: Fabian has mastered the art of making bird noises with his hands! Communicating with birds has always been of interest to him. His new nickname for the club is the bird whisperer. Please refer to him by Fabian in public settings.

Grace Ritchie

Grace Ritchie tragically passed away in a Rube Goldberg-related fire. In retrospect, making “burn it all” the end goal for the machine may have not been a great idea. But hindsight is 20/20. Now she haunts the workshop, and cannot move on to the afterlife until she builds the most overcomplicated Rube Goldberg machine of all time.

Henry

Who is Henry? Or, more accurately, what is Henry? Is he a part of this club? Is he a part of any club? Is he a capybara or even another South American mammal? Or is he more of a concept? Perhaps, in a way, Henry is within us all.
