Computers Group 1

Day: Friday

Frequency: Odd numbered weeks

Start time: 09:50 am

Venue : ZOOM meetings online

Group Leader: groups.wsm.u3a@gmail.com

Description:

The group is made up of people who all own and use at least one computer. Mutual self help for members, problem solving and discussions.

At each meeting there are two laptop computers connected to a projector to enable the computer screen to be seen by all on a larger screen. It is also possible to connect the laptops to the Internet in order to download information where it is thought this would be of use.

Members of the group are at different skill levels and use their computers for many varied purposes. At each meeting, which takes the form of a discussion group, members are invited to raise matters which they may have encountered while using their machines in the hope that beneficial ideas can be shared by all, or problems hopefully solved by group participation.

The meetings are not formal training sessions; at times a topic may be considered of sufficient importance, or interest, to warrant a semi-formal presentation. It is hoped that at each two-hour meeting anyone wishing to raise a topic will be heard but of course due to the complexity of the subject this may not always be possible, and there is certainly no guarantee that anyone with a problem will leave with a solution.

Members contribute £1.50 at each meeting; £1.20 to offset the cost of room rental, 30p for tea/coffee and biscuits. This is inclusive of the cost of connecting the laptop to the Internet.

Members are expected to take turns in preparation of refreshments and washing up afterwards.
