Teaching Philosophy
I am very interested in teaching well. My philosophy on teaching is simple, I believe creating a safe, inquisitive, and enjoyable classroom environment is one of the best ways to learn. I also believe in teaching with compassion and understanding so that anyone from any background can learn and improve their lives. I practice these ideas with every lecture, and I believe my unique personality makes this task much easier to accomplish.

UC Riverside Distinguished Teaching Award:
I was the recipient of the 2020 Distinguished Teaching Award (DTA). The DTA is a university wide award given to two graduate students a year, one in STEM and one in CHASS. The award is decided by the strength of the nomination letters and teaching evaluations.
Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award (2024):
I was a recipient of the 2024 Outstanding Teaching Award (OTA). The OTA is a departmental award and is decided by the strength of the nomination letters and teaching evaluations.
Vernon Kramer Award (2024):
I was a recipient of the 2024 Vernon A. Kramer Service Award. This award is a departmental award and given to graduate students who are more than willing and able to not only contribute to the department, but to also go the extra mile.
Teaching Fellow (Fall 2020, Fall 2022) :
As a teaching fellow, my duties were to observe the teaching of new graduate students in the mathematics department. I would provide them with feedback and offer different pedagogical methods for teaching. In addition, I observed new graduate students' discussions on several occasions, assessing progress and offering assistance if needed.
University Teaching Certificate Program:
In the Spring of 2021, I completed UCR's Teaching Certificate program which is a competitive two-quarter instructional training and certificate program. In the program we reviewed and discussed different teaching and lecturing pedagogies, investigated equity and diversity in the classroom, and designed a teaching philosophy.
Mathematics Department Teaching Workshop:
In September 2021, I was a panelist for a workshop on how to run effective discussions for current and incoming graduate students. The other panelist and I discussed topics such as how to utilize worksheets in discussions and how to conduct lecture style discussions.
In September of 2022, I was an organizer and moderator of a workshop panel on running effective discussions. I was also an organizer for a workshop on productive teaching communities between primary instructors and teaching assistants. Some of the topics we explored in the latter workshop were creating weekly meetings to discuss students' progress and developing a safe and fair environment to air concerns.
