It all started when we couldn't throw away the discarded books from the library we worked at......
We were looking for ideas on how to re-purpose the discarded books from our library, and after a little bit of research found some cool mobiles to make by folding the pages of a book. The mobiles came out awesome. From there, our book folding blossomed.
Realizing the possibilities were endless we began experimenting, making all types of different pieces, adding our own personal touches and personalities to each one. As our creativity grew, so did the number of items we were making. Our "personal inventory" became a bit overwhelming so we decided to try our hand at selling at local craft fairs.
The feedback and positive comments we received about re-purposing and rescuing books was incredible! No one had seen anything like it they kept saying. People were amazed that we could turn a book into flowers, a pocketbook, vases, cats, words within the books, and more, simply by folding or manipulating the pages.
Deciding to pursue this adventure a little more seriously, we began applying to bigger and more well known artisan shows within Connecticut. The shows we did in 2018 provided us with an education in the artisan circles that we needed to focus on, as well as provided us with vital feedback as to what our customers are looking for. We have a few faithful followers who pop in at our shows to see our latest creations...we love seeing them and are on a first name basis!
The adventure has only just begun, but we look forward to many years of creativity and more importantly, rescuing those books!
