Jazz Appreciation Group

Wednesday 10th January -  U3A JAZZ APPRECIATION TENTH ANNIVERSARY -   Selection of music from members' presentations  over the past decade including music from Madeleine Peyroux ,  Red Norvo, Bud Powell, Coleman Hawkins, Stephane Grappelli, Gil Evans, Bill Evans & many more.

Sessions are held at the Towcester Mill Brewery on the 2nd Wednesday of each month starting at 2:00 pm.  We now meet in the STEAM ROOM and access is via the ground floor bar.

New members are always welcome

We play jazz recordings on the second Wednesday of each month from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm in the STEAM ROOM of Towcester Mill Brewery located in Chantry Lane, Towcester, NN12 6AD.   The room is on the first floor via some easy stairs but there is a passenger lift if required.

All types of jazz and near jazz are played including: Ragtime, Blues, New Orleans, Chicago, Swing, Big Band, Be-Bop, Cool, Hard Bop, Avant Garde, etc. as well as current and uncategorisable artists.

The meeting format consists of a presentation, usually by a group member, on topics such as Jazz as an Art Form, Gerry Mulligan, Cannonball Adderley, Sidney Bechet, Latin Jazz, South African Jazz, Pee Wee Russell, & Blue Note Records.

 The group started sessions in January 2014 

Anyone who is interested in Jazz is welcome to join us at these sessions but membership of the Towcester U3A is essential.
