Recent Activities
At NTU, I am involved in coordinating the university-wide unified Calculus programme, which is taken by more than 2,000 first-year students each year. My responsibilities include helping to align syllabi and assessments across multiple sections, coordinating with instructors, and supporting the training of teaching assistants, with a view to ensuring consistency, fairness, and quality in large-scale foundational mathematics teaching. Apart from this:

In the 2025–26 academic year, 

• I am conducting an action research project entitled From Questions to Breakthroughs: A Quasi-Experimental Action Research Study on the Application of an AI–Calculus Questioning Module in Large-Class Teaching (從提問到突破：AI－微積分提問模組應用於大班教學之準試驗行動研究). The project is supported by the Ministry of Education’s Teaching Practice Research Program (教育部教學實踐研究計畫).

• I was a co-investigator on a research project led by the Center for Bilingual Education (CBE), entitled Investigating the Learning Outcomes of English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) in Foundational University Courses (大學基礎學科之 EMI 課程學習成效研究) with particular attention to their personal development, disciplinary literacy and broader competencies, and academic performance.

• I served on the undergraduate admissions committee of the Department of Mathematics, NTU.

• Co-authored with Professor Ya-Ju Tsai, our textbook Calculus: Applications in Constrained Optimization, written for the course MATH4010, has been peer-reviewed and pubished by NTU Press (ISBN : 9786267768112), available on multiple platforms such as Eslite or 博客來.

• I was invited by NTU’s Office of International Affairs (OIA) to undertake an academic outreach visit to Indonesia, during which I gave talks at Sekolah Terpadu Pahoa (Link) and the Department of Mathematics at Universitas Indonesia (Link).

In the 2024–25 academic year, 

• I collaborated with Ko-Hsuan Shao on an action research project investigating the use of generative AI in Calculus education. The project was financially supported by the Teaching Practice Incubation Program (教學實踐育成計畫) of NTU's Center for Teaching and Learning Development (CTLD) in Fall 2024. Our work has been recognized and selected as part of the "Generative AI × SoTL Demonstration Project" (生成式AI × SoTL示範計畫) (Link). We plan to write up our findings and submit them for publication.

• I gave a talk titled "EMI 與 AI 的教學實踐：當 ChatGPT 遇上黑板，以臺大微積分課程為例" as part of the programme led by 臺大跨校EMI教師成長社群.

• Together with Professor Albert Chen, I was also invited as a guest on the podcast programme 《雙語臨門 NTU / NTU CBE with You!》.

• I founded a new course MATH1008 Elementary Analysis (初等分析). (Syllabus)

• I presented at NTU College of Science General Education EMI Teaching Achievements Symposium (台大理學院共同基礎課程 EMI 教學成果發表會) on how to promote EMI (English Medium of Instruction) education in foundational STEM courses.

• I conducted a fully online, English-instructed MATH4012 Pre-Calculus (EMI). In particular, I restructured the previously Mandarin-conducted version of the course and developed an entirely new set of lecture notes.

• I served as a panel member for the university-wide EMI Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award.

In the 2023-24 academic year, 

• I served as a member in the steering committee of the Specialized EMI TA (SET) training for STEM disciplines. You can find the highlights of the training sessions in this video.

• I founded two new courses MATH4018 and MATH4022 Introduction to Linear Algebra (I), (II)  (線性代數導論一、二) (Syllabus).

• I was the principal coordinator of the online course Pre-Calculus, as part of the new `Pre-U' programme at NTU.

• My Calculus 1, 2, 3, 4 classes of year 2022-23 were recorded by NTU CLTD (教發中心). They are now available on NTU OCW.
