I’m currently a Project Assistant Professor (Teaching) in the Department of Mathematics at National Taiwan University. My primary role is to coordinate NTU’s university-wide unified calculus programme, which serves more than 2,000 students each year across 8 colleges and over 30 departments. This involves organising TA training workshops, reviewing course syllabi, chairing calculus examination board meetings, and overseeing the Annual Certification Exam on Calculus at NTU. I usually teach around three courses per year, mostly in English (with occasional courses in Mandarin), ranging from precalculus, calculus, linear algebra and elementary analysis.
By training, I am an algebraic number theorist. I completed my PhD in Mathematics at King’s College London under the supervision of Professor David Burns as part of the London School of Geometry and Number Theory programme, working in Iwasawa theory and (equivariant) leading term conjectures for L-functions in arithmetic geometry. In recent years, I have also become increasingly involved in the research of teaching and learning in mathematics, with projects on English-medium instruction (EMI), large-scale courses, and the use of AI tools in undergraduate mathematics.
Teaching is a central part of my academic identity. I have been fortunate to receive several teaching awards, including university-wide teaching prizes (台大傑出老師) at NTU and earlier recognition (King's Education Award) during my time at King’s College London. At NTU, I co-authored a calculus textbook on constrained optimizations tailored for economics and management students, aiming to bridge rigorous mathematical theory with real applications. I also collaborate with the Center for Bilingual Education (CBE) at NTU to design and lead EMI TA training for STEM students, aiming to promote English-medium teaching and clearer mathematical communication in the classroom.
