Brief summary
Since I graduated from my PhD program, my research has focused on analysis and design of infrastructural systems (e.g., buildings, nuclear structures, bridges, offshore platforms, foundations) underextreme loading conditions (earthquake, blast, impact, fire and wind). I have investigated how to utilize new materials and technologies together to create innovative structural systems that mitigate the effects of extreme loading. Much of this research is focused on the computational and theoretical aspects of structural engineering, with particular emphasis on multiscale computational simulations including finite element methods, geo mechanics, constitutive modeling, nonlinear solution strategies and advanced visualization techniques.
