Troop 52 has been chartered since 1942, and just celebrated our 80th anniversary. We are part of in Chester County Council in southeast Pennsylvania, about 30 miles west of Philadelphia.
We are a very active troop, with weekend camping once a month, fundraising, service projects, and road cleanups. Each (non-COVID) year we host the "Trimble Day" Cub Scout event. The event allows our youth members to teach Cub scouts and provides the Cubs with a day of fun and learning.
Recent outings have included:
Whitewater rafting in Jim Thorpe, PA
A trip to Annapolis for a tour of the Naval Academy and a football game
A High Adventure trip to Seabase in the Florida Keys
A tour of the State Capitol in Harrisburg
Our emphasis is on Scouting as a youth led program; adults leaders facilitate outings and teach leadership, but the majority of the activities are led by the Scouts.
Troop 52 attends at least 1 summer camp each year. We will be at the Rothrock site at Camp Horseshoe each year at week 5, and have recently attended summer camps at Rodney Scout Reservation, Bechtel Scout Reservation, and Massawepie Scout reservations.
The Troop is also very active with the Order Of the Arrow and Octoraro Lodge 22.
