Camping Packing List:
Personal Clothing:
• Scouts BSA uniform (tan shirt) – this is required for departure and return home
• T-shirts - one for each day of camping plus one
• Long sleeve shirt
• Fleece shirt or light jacket
• Socks - At least one pair of socks for each day of camping plus one.
• Underwear- At least one for each day of camping plus one.
• Shorts - 2 pairs
• Long pants - 2 pairs
• Comfortable, sturdy shoes that are suitable for hiking.
• Light weight shoes (tennis, etc.)
• Warm coat, boots, hat, and gloves (cold weather camping)
• Long underwear – 2 pair (cold weather camping)
• Warm hat for sleeping (cold weather camping)
• Hat with visor (warm weather gear camping)
• Rain gear (rain parka, poncho, etc.) with head covering (warm weather camping)
• Swimsuit and towels (warm weather camping)
Personal Gear:
• Sleeping Bag
• Sleeping pad
• Water Bottle
• Mess kit (plate, bowl, cup, fork, spoon, knife in a mesh bag)
• Day pack (to keep small items in)
• Flashlight / Headlamp with extra batteries
• Personal Hygiene (soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss, towel)
• Personal First Aid kit
• Emergency whistle
• Sun Screen
• Bug Spray / Mosquito repellant (pump bottle, no aerosols)
• Scout handbook and pen/pencil
• Pocket-knife (Once the scout has earned their “Totin'-chip”)
• Matches (Once the scout has earned their “Fireman chit”)
• Compass
• Money (for the Trading Post if desired)
• Rope for clothes line
• Duct Tape
• Tarp (approximately 10 x 12 feet)
Notes:
• Tents and cooking gear are provided by the troop.
• All clothing and gear for scouts should be labeled. Many items will all look the same.
• Scouts should have non-cotton clothing next to skin (polypropolene, wool, etc) as cotton will retain moisture and can cause hypothermia.
