Integrated Routing and Scheduling
Abstract. In a bulk cargo industry, a performance of inland waterway transportation plans depends on the interaction between routing and scheduling processes. Currently, the decisions of both processes are done separately without considering mutual requirements, which may lead to non-optimal solutions. An integrated routing and scheduling enables the improvement of waterway transportation plan. Thus, this paper presents an integrated approach to routing and scheduling for inland waterway transportation to minimize the total cost and the penalty cost of late-delivery, subject to time windows and limited number of facilities. The proposed approach is applied to a supply chain scenario with a facility in Thailand, shipping both imports and exports. The computational results prove the proposed method is effective.
