Nabucco, tên đầy đủ là Nabuccodonosor, là vở opera 4 màn của nhà soạn nhạc người Ý Giuseppe Verdi. Ông viết vở opera này vào năm 1841 với lời của Temistocle Solera dựa trên kinh thánh và một vở kịch viết năm 1836 của Auguste Anicet-Bourgeois và Francis Cornue.
Vở nhạc kịch nói đến sự tích dân Do Thái bị vua Nabucco của Babylon chiếm đóng Jerusalem vào năm 586 BC, và đuổi họ ra khỏi quê huơng, bắt đi đày bên xứ Babylon. Nabucco cũng bị qui là đã tàn phá thành Jerusalem và vườn treo Babylon.
Va pensiero /"The Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves"/ Bài Đồng Ca của Người Nô Lệ ở vào màn 3 của vở Opera Nabucco, lấy theo ý của bài thánh vịnh (Psalm) 137. Bài thánh vịnh này diễn tả nỗi nhớ nhà của người Do Thái đang bị lưu đày.
Vở opera được trình diễn lần đầu tiên tại La Scala, Milan vào ngày 9 tháng 3 năm 1842. Vở opera này đã thấm đượm tinh thần dân tộc Ý, thấm đượm tình yêu tự do và độc lập dành cho Ý trước ách đô hộ của quân xâm lược. Sức mạnh của vở opera này lớn đến nỗi nhiều cuộc biểu tìnhnổ ra ngay sau buổi công diễn của nó.
Đấy cũng chính là lý do tại sao người ta hát nó nhiều lần.
Bởi vì nó bài ca của TỰ DO.

Và Song for Liberty hay Je chante avec toi liberté chính là phiên bản của Va, pensiero/The Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves mà ta vừa nghe.
Cũng xin nhắc đến bài The Rivers Of Babylone của ban nhạc Boney M. của Jamaica cũng dựa trên Thánh Vịnh (PSALM) 137 (Hương Xa 33). Những "tuồng tích" này rất quen thuộc với giao dân Thiên Chúa , nay nhờ âm nhạc mà ta biết thêm về lịch sử dân Do Thái,"dân của Chúa", liên quan chặt chẽ đến lịch sử của Thiên Chúa Giáo toàn cầu!
