Congratulations to Kaelyn Lee, a junior out of Eagle Rock High School. She was just named to the All-City LA City Section Girls Basketball Team. When not starring on the basketball court, she is busy racking up points for Eagle Rock's track team. As a 10th grader last year, she won her Northern League Triple Jump title in 33’ 9.50 and ran on Eagle Rock’s winning 4 x 100 Northern League Final.

• City of Angels Invitational: Would have loved to have been to this meet but my wife’s heath situation make it impossible . Here are some hight lights of what I missed. Aja Hill of View Park won the 200 in 27.43. Running on the 4x100 she helped View Park win in 52.87. Eagle Rock girls ran 4:16.11 in the 4x400. Britanie Butts of Highland won the high jump, triple jump, and long jump. On the boys side, James Taylor of USC Hybrid won the 100m in 11.47. Aaron Walton of Fairfax took the 200 in 23.84. Shannon Turner of Eagle Rock won the 400m in a nice 50.82. Marshall’s Lukas Ambrose ran a good 4:31.55 in the metric mile but was upended by Leo Oliva of Highland who ran 4:30.49. Darek Thang of San Fernando long jumped 19’11.75 and Miguel Lim of Eagle Rock tripled out to 40-06.00.

• Terrific performance from City athletes today. Some of the highlights include Jicel Fernandez-Ramirez (ECR) 5:31.90, and Charlene Aquiler (Taft) 5:33.02 in the 1600. In the 4x100 Hamilton's 50.07 and Dorsey's 50.63 led the way. Where was Carson? Their 4x400 ran 4:03.56. City Champ Tyjai Boyle of Carson ran 15.36 in the highs and 48.70 in the 300h. 400m star Autumn Wright of Carson hit 57.02 while her teammate, Elisha Salazar went under 60 with her 59.39. Nice 800m running from Pali's Elizabeth Rene (2:22.46) and Nicole Figueroa (2:22.46). City sprinters turned in top times and places with Carson's Kenyla Miles 3rd in 11.97 and ECR's Elani Rice 4th in 12.09 and Saundria Martin (Carson) 6th in12.26. --- On the boys side we had an outstanding performance with Carlos MD Campo - Monroe - 3rd in 1:56.12. Hunter Parker of Pali went 2:01.38. City Champion Mark Nunez (Carson) won the big 400 in 49.72. His teammate Tyler Rambo ran 51.09. Five City hurdlers went under 16 with Demetrious Douglas - Dorsey - 15.44 , Vincent Woodard - Carson - 15.52, Andre Butt - Carson - 15.75, Ryan Fields of Hamilton (15.80) and Bailey Jones (Pali) 15.87 looking very good. Where was Reseda's Eddie Cooper? 4x100 teams of ECR and Carson ran 42.77 and 43.98. Two nice 100m sprints were turned in by Dylan Thomsen (ECR) 10.97 and Hamilton's Jacques Wilson 10.99. In the 1600m Ben Hamer (Pali) ran 4:30.69. March 11 - Redondo Invitational

• Sarah Bentley of Palisades ran a very nice 12:09.80 in the 3200m. Another freshman, Giancario Puccia of ECR, scored big with his 10:03.82. At the Varsity level, Kimia Samandi of Palisades ran the best FAT to date with her 11:50.70. Another Palisades athlete, Jakob Pollack went under 10 flat with his 9:57.71. Hamilton’s Mary Agnes Reed had an nice 32-11.00 in the F/S shot put. In the Varsity shot, Carson’s Dominique Payne and Crystal Washington threw 33-01 and 33-00 respectively . March 10 - Redondo Invitational

• The Redondo Invitational (March 10-11) will feature some top City talent. Carlos MD Campo of Monroe and Sais Ruiz of Kennedy will face each other in the 800. The 110m high hurdles will be awesome with Demetrious Douglas (Dors), Keiran Taylor (Dors), Dakari Douglas (Dors), and Vincent Woodard (Cars) putting on a mini preview of the City Final.

• Justin Hazell's (ECR) 9:18.72 set at the Don Green Memorial Track Meet is the State's # 2 time.

• Dakari Douglas of Dorsey set a PR of 14:48 for 110 hurdles in his meet against West Adams.
