TouchpointsTM Individual Level Training
This two and one-half day long intensive symposium is designed for individual healthcare, childcare, early education and social service providers who work with children and families. It is for people who want to incorporate elements of the Touchpoints model, with its emphasis on building supportive alliances between parents and professionals into their individual practices. The two and one-half days give participants a solid understanding of all Touchpoints elements through intensive small group activities lead by regional site faculty and practitioners who have been trained in the model. The program includes three live encounters with families and their children, and opportunities to reflect on implementation of the concepts and techniques. The newly revised program for those specializing in work with newborns puts special emphasis on the transition from expecting parents to the dramatic reorganization that occurs at the birth of the newborn, and includes live prenatal and postnatal encounters with families.
TouchpointsTM Refresher/Booster Program
Offered periodically, this program consists of an evening get together (with dinner) of groups of alumni of the Touchpoints Individual Level Training programs. This time is spent extending the knowledge base and techniques of participants, and exploring the successes (and challenges) they have experienced in their particular practice contexts. These sessions are designed to help participants build mentoring relationships in their work environments that will help them better understand, sustain, and value the relationships they have with their patients’ families, and to understand and bridge the cultural differences they may encounter. This program is free of charge for Touchpoints alumni, and has CEU credits available. For information on the next session, contact Dr. Rekedal: krekedal@mac.com
TouchpointsTM Reflective Supervision
These sessions are for people who have been trained in the Touchpoints model and who are actively integrating it into their work with families and children. They provide a chance to share both successes and challenges in implementing Touchpoints principles and insights, as practitioners establish new paradigms of relationships with families and children. Reflective Supervision sessions are offered on a regular monthly basis for all residents and staff at The Unterberg Children's Hospital at Monmouth, and are available for scheduling at other times and locations.
TouchpointsTM Presentations
Brief overview presentations (from one-half hour to one-half day) on the fundamentals of the Touchpoints approach are available for groups wishing to find out more about how Touchpoints works and how it might fit into their group’s mission and goals. These participatory talks preview how child development and family systems theory are integrated into a unified approach to helping families. The goals of the training are discussed along with some thoughts on who gets the most out of the approach and why, and how to make the best use of Touchpoints resources.
