We met at an Oktoberfest party in 2004. Doug, a Visual Effects artist with a talent for wood work and me a middle school teacher with a flair for the dramatic. Three years later, we married, planned a family, and were blessed with the birth of our two girls. Our love for the Great Dickens Fair grew.
While pregnant, we had refurbished an antique buggy. We brought Katharina to the Fair when she was two weeks old. People stopped to admire out beautiful baby in her victorian bonnet and gown cradled in a refurbished buggy. The following year, pregnant for a second time, more people stopped us asking for the store we bought Katharina's dress, bonnet, and buggy from. Doug and I wondered why there was no shop in the Fair for infants and toddlers? The best answer was that we had not yet opened one.
The idea began to grow into a business plan. We began search for antique nursery items Doug could refurbish and I began to sew. Expanding our idea to include nursery wares from other American artisans (including my sister, Michelle, who is a phenomenal quilter) our shop caters to infants and toddlers.
We are so excited to be part of the Great Dickens Christmas Fair this year. We hope you and your family enjoy our little shop. Please come by and see us.
