Meet Pastor Tom Carter

I was born into a Christian home and trusted in Jesus as my personal Savior while very young. As a boy, I never wanted to be a cowboy, a policeman, or a professional athlete. My one passion was to become a pastor. By God’s kindness I have now served my Lord in fulltime pastoral ministry since 1976. I retired on June 1, 2020.

I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Idaho, a Master of Divinity degree from Fuller Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Westminster Theological Seminary California.

My wife Mary and I have been married since 1982. We have three grown children: Andrea, Leslie, and Tommy, and nine grandchildren.

My hobbies are reading, writing, and playing and watching tennis. I’m a huge fan of Rafa Nadal.

From 1982 into 2020 I served as the senior pastor of the First Baptist Church of Dinuba, California. God has given me a writing ministry, and I’m the author of more than ten Christian books, several of which have been published in India, South Korea, Nigeria, and Brazil.

Years ago, I grieved that after preaching my sermons, I would tuck them away in my file cabinet and no one would ever see them again. All that blood, sweat, and tears of sermon preparation (I loved every minute of it!), 35 minutes of delivery to my congregation, and after that, the sermons would be assigned a plot in the graveyard of my file cabinet. Ouch!

And then the Internet came along, and it began to dawn on me that my sermons could rise from the dead! And thus this website is resurrection ground! At least, that’s the way I look at it.

Resurrection life is meant to be lived, and so I share my sermons with you with a twofold prayer:

1. That as a result of reading these sermons, you will praise, thank, love, serve, and live for the glory of my Lord Jesus Christ.

2. That God will bless these messages all over again to the minds, hearts, and lives of the people who read them and watch them.

Thank you for being one of those people.

Pastor Tom Carter

P.S. I am indebted to my extremely capable secretary, Jessica Sandoval, for her expertise in building this website from scratch. Thank you, Jessica!
