This is unfortunately only in German, but it is a great idea: simple and easily implementable micro-policies to solve massive development problems. "2.6 billion people worldwide live without access to a toilet. In Africa, diarrhea, caused by a lack of toilets and poor hygiene is the biggest killer of children under five years of age, taking more lives than HIV/AIDS, malaria and measles combined. 626 million Indians still practice open defecation. Diarrheal diseases resulting from a lack of toilets and poor hygiene kill 1,000 children every day and cost the Indian economy an estimated $53.8 billion per year." Just hands-washing after being at the toilet would reduce by half the incidence of gastroenteritis in developing countries. WASH united is working on this issue in a new and very successful way: well done Thorsten and co.
