Welcome to my webpage

I am Head of the  Firms and Markets Department at the Deutsches Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung (DIW Berlin) and a professor of empirical industrial economics at the Düsseldorf Institute for Competition Economic (DICE) of the Heinrich-Heine University

My research interests are in applied econometrics in the fields of industrial organization, law and economics, and management. Some specific topics are competition policy, merger control, regulation, mergers, research joint ventures, lobbying, and institutions. 

My papers have been published in The Review of Economics and Statistics, The Economic JournalThe Journal of Law and Economics, European Economic Review, and Journal of Managements Studies among other academic journals.

I have advised several public bodies, such as various DGs of the European Commission and the UK Competition Commission, on competition policy issues.
