Flower Color Patterns
Self – an iris color pattern in which the flower standards and falls are the same color and shade.
Complete self – an iris color pattern in which all parts of the flower, including the beards, are the same color and shade.
Bicolor – an iris color pattern in which the standards are a different color than the falls.
Amoena – a specific bicolor iris color pattern in which the standards are white, or lightly-tinted white, and the falls are colored.
Reverse amoena (or darktop) – a specific bicolor iris color pattern in which the falls are white and the standards are colored.
Variegata – a specific bicolor iris color pattern in which the standards are yellow and the falls are reddish/maroon or brown.
Bitone – an iris color pattern in which the standards are a lighter shade and the falls are a darker shade of the same color.
Reverse bitone – an iris color pattern in which the standards are a darker shade and the falls are a lighter shade of the same color.
Neglecta – a specific bitone iris color pattern in which the standards are a lighter shade of blue or purple and the falls are a darker shade of same color blue or purple.
Reverse neglecta – a specific bitone iris color pattern in which the standards are a darker shade of blue or purple and the falls are a lighter shade of same color blue or purple.
Luminata – an iris color pattern in which the beards, hafts, and style arms are white or colored with carotenoid pigmentation (yellow, orange, or pink) and the standards and falls are brushed or marbled with an anthocyanin color (red, purple, or blue).
Plicata – an iris color pattern in which the falls, with a light colored ground, are outlined with a darker-colored dotted/stippled or rayed/stitched pattern.
Glaciata – an iris color pattern in which no anthocyanic pigmentation (red, purple, or blue) is present, resulting in petal coloration of pure white or carotenoid coloration (yellow, orange, or pink).
Broken color – an iris color pattern in which the petals have irregular splashes and/or streaks of color.
Blend – an iris color pattern with a combination of two or more colors.
Reverse – any type of iris color pattern in with the standards are a darker shade or color and the falls are a lighter shade or color.
