SYNTHETIC ORGANOMETALLIC CHEMISTRY AND CATALYSIS LAB

Research Overview

TKP research group is currently actively conducting research in cutting-edge areas of organometallic and organic chemistry. The dynamic research group believes sustainability to chemical productions in modern industrial processes requires high efficiency in any organic reactions avoiding the formation of dangerous contaminations and minimizing by-products and waste. To achieve this well-defined organometallic complexes are essential to play a key role in homogeneous catalysis in environmentally benign processes. TKP research group focuses on earth-abundant based catalysis, particularly using metals such as alkaline earth metal (Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba), early transition metals (Ti, Zr), Mn, Fe, Co etc.

     Prof. Tarun Kanti Panda

Prof. Tarun K. Panda obtained his BSc from the R. K. Mission Residential College, Narendrapur, in 2000, part of the University of Calcutta, and his MSc from IIT, Kanpur, in 2002. He joined as a doctoral student at Freie Universität Berlin under the supervision of Prof. Peter W. Roesky and was awarded Dr rer. nat. in 2005. Dr Panda worked as a post doc with Prof. Matthias Tamm at TU Braunschweig, Germany (2006–2007) and was awarded a prestigious Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) postdoctoral fellowship in 2008 to work with Prof. Kazushi Mashima at the Graduate School of Engineering, Osaka University, Japan. He started his independent career in May 2010 at the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad.

Currently, he is a Professor of Chemistry at IIT Hyderabad.
