About the instructors

Pil Sung Taekwon-Do was established in February 2012 by husband and wife instructing team, Graham and Suzanne Patterson.

Graham (Gray) Patterson

Currently an 8th Degree Black Belt, Master Gray Patterson started his training at the Khandallah Club in Wellington in September 1987. 

Master Gray Patterson has had an active Taekwon-Do career, including being Head Instructor of the Khandallah club (1994-2007); New Zealand Team Member; New Zealand Team Coach; and various official posts including President of International Taekwon-Do Foundation of New Zealand (ITFNZ).


Suzanne Patterson

Master Suzanne Patterson (nee. Main) started her training in 1996 at the Massey University Club under Mr Lawrence Mantjika. Relocating to the Wellington region as a blue belt in 1998, she continued her Taekwon-Do training at the Khandallah Club under Mr Patterson.  

Master Suzanne Patterson was promoted to 7th degree black belt in February 2023, making her one of the highest ranking female Taekwon-Do practitioners in New Zealand. She is also a qualified Personal Trainer.
