The purpose of this webquest is to teach 5th grade students about important inventions during The Industrial Revolution! Students will learn about different inventions and their inventors and how they both had an everlasting impact on the world.
Grade level: 5th
South Carolina Standard: 5-3.1 Explain how the Industrial Revolution was furthered by new inventions and technologies, including new methods of mass production and transportation and the invention of the light bulb, the telegraph, and the telephone.
Note from the teacher: Students will not be learning about mass production and transportation from this lesson. Students will connect that information with another standard following this webquest. By the end of this webquest, students should be able to understand that inventions furthered the Industrial Revolution. Students will understand the importance of inventions by developing their own and brainstorming the impact inventions of today could have on the future.
Learning Objectives:
1. Students will be able to create their own inventions.
2. Students will be able to create a brochure about their own invention, the telephone, the telegraph, and the light bulb to explain their impact on the world.
