THE ALLIANCE
As member of the Alliance of World Scientists, an independent international assembly of professional researchers, I share the collective international voice of thousands of scientists regarding the global climate crisis and environmental trends with the intent to turn accumulated knowledge into action.
The Alliance gives voice to the Scientists' Warning Foundation, a registered non-profit organization that acts as an activist and educational partner, allowing scientists to warn humanity of the rapidly increasing dangers of climate change and destruction of the ecology and habitability of planet Earth under the weight of society’s footprint.
CORE WARNINGS
1992 Original Warning. Written by Henry W. Kendall via the Union of Concerned Scientists and signed by 1,700 leading scientists (including a majority of living science Nobel laureates), warning that human activities risked irreversible damage to Earth's life support systems.
2017 Second Notice. Led by William J. Ripple and signed by over 15,000 scientists, calling for an end to fossil fuel reliance, protection of nature, and stabilized human population growth.
Subsequent Updates. Expanded into formal climate emergency declarations and updates focusing on energy, meat consumption, economic shifts, and planetary boundaries.
