Thyagaraja Marathe

Staff Research Engineer

Xona Space Systems Vancouver, Canada

Thyagaraja Marathe is a Staff Research Engineer at Xona Space Systems. Currently, he is part of the team assessing various aspects of navigation using low-earth orbit (LEO) satellites.

Prior to joining Xona, he was a Senior Research Engineer at Rx Networks Inc., Vancouver, Canada, where he worked on developing a GNSS high accuracy corrections service that would enable sub-meter level user position accuracy required for a variety of use cases (e.g. automotive, robotics, IoT, and other mass-market applications).

He was a post-doctoral scholar (PDS) in the Position, Location and Navigation (PLAN) group in the Geomatics department at The University of Calgary, Canada during 2016-17 (under the supervision of Prof. GĂ©rard Lachapelle).

He received the B.E. degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from VTU, Belgaum, India in 2005, the M.S. degree in Software Systems from BITS, Pilani, India, in 2011, and Ph.D. in Geomatics Engineering from the University of Calgary in April 2016 (Specialization: Positioning, Navigation and Wireless Location).
