(1) Scholarships offered by the government:

Students may apply for scholarships like the "Taiwan Scholarship" offered by the Taiwan Government as described in the following.

● Taiwan Scholarship --- offering a monthly stipend of NT$30,000 (approximately US$882). After receiving an admission letter from Asia University, completed documents must be sent by the end of March to the nearest Taiwan Embassy or Representative Office located in the country where the applicant reside.

(2) Scholarships offered by Asia University:

Moreover, Asia University provides a limited number of scholarships each year for talented students from other countries. All applicants may have an opportunity to compete for scholarship provided by Asia University, depending on the qualification of applicants, programs admitted, and funding available. Applicants who have received other scholarships are not eligible to apply scholarships offered by the university.

● Half-Tuition Waiver Scholarship --- offering a 50% tuition waiver.

● Full Scholarship --- including a tuition waiver, a dormitory fee waiver, and a monthly stipend of NT$6,000 (approximately US$176).

● Tuition Waiver Scholarship --- offering a full tuition waiver.

To apply for scholarships provided by Asia University, a completed form with all required application materials must be sent to the Center for International Academic Exchange. Awarded students in Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral programs are supported for at most four, two, and three years, respectively. An average score of less than 75 and 80 in the previous academic year for undergraduate and graduate students, respectively, will result in disqualification of receiving the scholarship.

6. Two Fully-Funded PhD Positions in High Mobility Wireless Communications Department of Electronic Engineering Maynooth University, Ireland The Department of Electronic Engineering at Maynooth University, Ireland

Qualifications, Expected Skills and Competencies

  • PhD applicants must hold at least a first or upper second class honours Bachelors or Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Highly proficient English language skills. Evidence of English language proficiency for non-native speakers based on IELTS (or TOEFL internet/paper based) score of 6.5 (or score of 95/585) is essential to be available no later than 15th of August 2020.

  • Strong mathematical, analytical and programming skills.

  • Excellent background in communication theory and signal processing.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including presentation skills.

  • Excellent organisational skills, attention to details and the ability to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to think logically, create solutions and make informed decisions.

  • Willingness to work collaboratively in a research environment.

  • A strong commitment to their own continuous professional development.

Funding / Stipend The PhD positions are both funded for 4 years, including a monthly stipend and a travel budget to present at international conferences, workshops and seminars. The studentships will cover four years of tuition fees and a stipend of € 18,500 per annum.

4. PhD scholarship- The University of Newcastle, Australia

One full PhD scholarship is available at The University of Newcastle, Australia to work with Dr. Duy Ngo (https://www.newcastle.edu.au/profile/duy-ngo) in the area of Wireless Communications. The research topics include the design and optimization of 5G wireless networks, e.g., Cloud radio access networks, heterogeneous networks, simultaneous wireless information and power transfer, full-duplex communications, massive MIMO.

The scholarship is for 3.5 years and will cover the followings: Full tuition fees (AUD113,680), living allowance of AUD26,288 per year, AUD 2,020 for relocation expense to Australia, full health insurance, one laptop, AUD 1,500 per year for research (travel, books, etc.) and AUD 500 for thesis allowance.
