1. FELIME (PHELIME) HUGHES was born about 1680 in Inver, Donegal ,Ulster, IRE. Changed name several times before taking this name. 

    Children:

      ii. FELIME (FELIX) HUGHES, also born before 1700, Inver,Donegal,Ulster, IRE.

2. THOMAS HUGHES ( 1 FELIME) was born Bef. 1700 in Inver,Donegal,Ulster, IRE.

    Married BRIDGET O'NEIL, also born before 1700 in Ireland.

       i.   PHELIME (FELIX) HUGHES, b. 1723, Inver,Donegal,Ulster, IRE; d. 1805, ,Greene, PA.

       ii.  JOHN HUGH HUGHES, b. 1725; m. MARY HUNTER.

3. PHELIME ( FELIX ) HUGHES ( 2THOMAS, 1 FELIME) was born 1723 in Inver,Donegal,Ulster, IRE, and  

     died 1805 in  Greene county, PA 

    Married CYNTHIA KAIGHN Abt.1748 in Loudon, VA. She was born in Inver, Donegal, Ulster, IRE. 

      note:

              -Family left Virginia about 1767 and settled on Muddy Creek in what is present day Greene county. They had 3 adjoining tracts of land they named "Bear Harbor" and built a cabin strong enough to double as a fort. 

             -Felix Hughes became a Private in the Revolutionary War in Cap't Adam Foulke's Company, 3rd Class Philadelphia Militia, on 7 Aug 1777, and was also in the service of the U.S.Army.

              -Buried: Neill's Burying Ground, Carmichael, PA

       i.   MAJ. THOMAS HUGHES, b. May 05, 1749, ,Loudoun, VA; d. February 04, 1823, Jefferson, Greene, PA.

       ii.  JAMES HUGHES, b. 1750; d. 1807, Waynesville,Greene, PA.  m.1772 to CASSANDRA DUNN

            note:   

              -James served as a member of the commander-in-chief's guards in 1780 and is mentioned in "The history of the Commander-in-Chief's Guards written by Dr.Carlos E.Godfrey in 1904".

                -James was one of the first commissioners of Greene County PA (1798)

               -James' grandson, Thomas Hughes, compiled "My Family Memoirs" in 1880.

              -James was sued for retaliating against the Shawnee for brother John's death.

             note:   Killed by Shawnee natives.

4. MAJ. THOMAS HUGHES ( 3FELIX, 2THOMAS, 1FELIME ) was born May 05, 1749 in, Loudoun, VA, and died February 04, 1823 in Jefferson, Greene, PA. 

    Married ELIZABETH SWAN February 20, 1771 in Winchester, Loudon, VA, daughter of 

     JOHN SWAN and  ELIZABETH LUCAS. 

    She was born February 28, 1751 in MD, and died June 02, 1825 in Jefferson, Greene County, PA. 

    Thomas was a Major in the American revolution, and a rebel in the "Whiskey Rebellion", and a pioneer of coal mining in southwest Pennsylvania.

     died July 11, 1861 in PA. 

    Married MARGARET HILLER, Abt.1812, daughter of William Hiller and Margaret Myers. She was born 1794, and died January 26, 1833.

     Married 12 January 1845 to Margaret Lloyd Hill (b. 27 Sep 1824, d. 31 Mar 1850) daughter of

      Caton Hill and Margaret Olden.

                 Irene enjoyed the honor of being mother's "lucky number 7" child. She followed the path of her ancestors as a school teacher.     I, however, wandered and searched for all things outdoors.  Now I'm older, so I  wander and search the internet.  I learned  much about Hughes history, and even added a couple of missing branches to the family tree.  I believe I am now ready...
