Wells Club Newsletter 110 – August 2025 www.thewellsclub.co.uk
Quiz Nights
Quiz nights continue on alternate Wednesdays, the next being on Wednesday 27th August.
Doors open at 7.45 and the quiz gets going at about 8.15 once we have settled everybody into a team. Do not worry if you are not part of a team, we always ensure that anybody arriving on his or her own is found a team to join and that nobody is left on their own.
Non-Quiz Wednesdays
The Club will now be open on the alternate Wednesdays, when there is not a Quiz.
Before Covid, when we had a bar rota, the Club would be open on non-event weekdays and we are trying to get back to this, starting with Wednesdays. Volunteers to open up and run the bar would be welcome. The Club is no longer available for league or cup snooker matches on Wednesdays.
Malvern Wells Village Fete
We will be promoting the Club at the Village Fete on the afternoon of Sunday 7th September. We will, as usual be running a Play Your Cards Right game for charity. Anyone who would like to spend a short while on our stand, to help with the game, would be most welcome.
Women’s Rugby World Cup on the Big Screen
The tournament, which the Red Roses have a good chance of winning, opens on Friday 22nd August.
The Club will open at 7pm ready for the England v USA kick-off at 7.30. If you are going to watch the match anyway, why not do so on the big screen in the company of others.
Depending on demand, we will probably open for England’s the other group matches on Saturdays 30th August [Samoa] and 6th September [Australia] both of which have 5pm kick-offs
We will advise of further matches to be screened, if and when England progress though the knock-out rounds.
John Thompson
Sadly, we report the death of John who passed away suddenly a week ago. John had been a Club member for many years, volunteering for the bar and participating in Quiz nights. He will be greatly missed.
Sum up card payments
At the time of writing we are unable to take card payments, owing to water getting into the charging unit. The replacement unit should be installed by Thursday but in the meanwhile please be aware that cash may be required for payments at the bar.
