Welcome to your Club Newsletter

A special welcome to new members receiving our newsletter for the first time

Annual General Meeting

Your Club AGM was held on 21st May.  The accounts for 2025 were presented and accepted.  The accounts show a small operating profit but when depreciation is taken into consideration, they show a small loss.  However your Club remains viable with adequate reserves.

Any member wishing to receive a full copy of the accounts should contact the Club Secretary.

The committee was re-elected en-bloc and remains Ken Beecroft, Paul Southern, Nick Merriman, Stuart Heslop, Tom Stocker and Richard Stockwell.

At a subsequent Committee Meeting the Club officers were re-elected as Ken Beecroft [Chair] Paul Southern [Treasurer] and Nick Merriman [Secretary].

Football World Cup

Despite the late kick off time of 9pm, a few members showed up to watch the England v Croatia match on the big screen.

The Club will open at 8pm on Tuesday 23rd June for the 9pm kick off of the England v Ghana match.

If there is demand, we may open for the Panama match on Saturday 27th but, given the 10pm kick off, we would need to be sure of a good attendance to make it worth opening that late.

As [or if] England progress, we will advise of dates and times that the Club will be open to show matches.

Requests to open for Scotland’s matches will be considered, as will showing the later stages of the tournament regardless of home country involvement.

Quiz Nights

Our next Quiz Night is Wednesday 24th June, when Peter Buchanan will be Quizmaster. The Club will be open from 7.45 and the Quiz will get going at about 8.15, once everybody has been settled into a team.

Quizzes will continue to be fortnightly thereafter with Ken and Paul taking most of the Quizmaster duties.  Any Quiz regular attendee who would like to set and present a quiz should have a chat with Ken about possible dates.

Village Fete

The Malvern Wells Village Fete will take place on the afternoon of Sunday 6th September.  The Club will have its usual promotional and charity fundraising pitch.  Due to retirements, the Fete organising team is a bit low on numbers and any offers to assist in preparation and on the day would be much appreciated.  If you are able to help, please let Ken know.
