Wells Club Newsletter 114 – Summer 2026 www.thewellsclub.co.uk
Welcome to your Club Newsletter
A special welcome to new members receiving our newsletter for the first time
Important notice
During a routine clearing out of empty bottles and cans recently, it was noticed that the empties included products that we do not sell, which would seem to indicate that drink is being brought in.
Your Club depends on bar profits for its survival. Insufficient bar profit = No Club. We cannot allow a situation whereby members and/or guests and visitors bring their own drinks rather than buying from the Club.
Nobody would think of taking their own drinks to a pub and nor would any pub tolerate it. The same applies to the Club. Bringing in your own drink, rather than buying at the bar, is unacceptable.
Monitoring this situation will be difficult but keyholders and bar volunteers are asked to co-operate with the committee in helping to ensure that only drinks sold in the Club are consumed in the Club.
Quiz Nights
In this hot weather, Quiz Night in the Club is both literally and metaphorically, a cool place to be.
Our next Quiz Night is Wednesday 19th August, when Ken will be Quizmaster. The Club will be open from 7.45 and the Quiz will get going at about 8.15, once everybody has been settled into a team.
Quizzes will continue to be fortnightly with Ken and Paul taking most of the Quizmaster duties but any Quiz regular attendee who would like to have a go at being Quizmaster should have a chat with Ken about possible dates.
Village Fete – Sunday 6th September – noon to 4.30pm
The Malvern Wells Village Fete will take place on the afternoon of Sunday 6th September on the Village Green [in The Crescent the last turning before St Wulstan’s nature reserve]
The Club will have its usual promotional pitch, with our version of Play Your Cards Right, raising funds for a local charity. Any offers to take a spell on the stall would be most welcome.
The Fete organising and operational team is a bit low on numbers this year and any offers to assist in preparation on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning would be much appreciated. If you are able to help, please let Ken know.
