The New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) has finally released their proposal for the ‘Kapiti Expressway’ route. Loosely based on the Kapiti Coast Districts Council’s Western Link Road route, the expressway proposed by the NZTA route is bounded to cause controversy.

The NZ Transport Agency has begun public consultation on proposals for the MacKays to Peka Peka Expressway. The consultation period runs from 28 November 2010 to 4 February 2011.

I don't know about you, but we can hear the trains and existing SH-1 on an evening and we are two kilometres away.

NZTA have kindly shown a bridge over Te Moana Road with no soundproofing or lighting at all and no trucks or traffic.

Except for one tiny car in the distance.

Mind you they do at least admit that it will be elevated and thus visible approaching Te Moana Road and leaving the Waikanae river/El Rancho

I have attached some pictures of what they actually do as opposed to what they say they will do.

Why do they not show actual pictures from roads they have already built ?

My guess is that NZTA don't look very pretty in reality.

Any thoughts?
